Greetings Clear Lake Yacht Club members,
Crazy weather; three weeks ago, I thought we’d have all the ice out by the end of the week; now it feels like we could have ice until the middle of May. Anyway, while some of us are stuck indoors (and some are someplace much warmer), it’s a dandy time to start thinking and planning for the upcoming season. Here are a few ideas:
- Get cracking on whatever needs fixing or ordering before spring.
- Make a list of those folks you’d like to invite to join CLYC or attend the Sailing School, so you’re ready to share registration details when they’re available.
- Ponder how you want to be involved with the club this coming season—here are a couple early opportunities that may be of interest:
- We will be hosting the ILYA E invitational July 11-14. If you are interested in being on the core planning committee, contact me or Margaret Osmundson for details on an organizational meeting this coming Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. (and yes, there will be numerous volunteer options later on).
- We will be hosting a Hobie Wave racing clinic and regatta June 8 – 12. If you’re interested in helping with that, contact Chris Wessels.
Also, the spring board meeting is planned for Saturday, March 23, 4 p.m., at Lake Time Brewery. Board members, please mark your calendars; everyone else, please remember you are welcome to attend if you’re interested or have great idea you’d like to share.
In the meantime, stay warm and think spring!
