Now that was steamy!  Who needs a sauna at home when Mother Nature serves up weather like that!  Despite the heat and humidity our party was well attended and usual, many libations were enjoyed, conversations had, and laughs bellowed.  Perhaps the party format isn’t something to which we’re accustomed; however, they sure seem to be working out well!  I’m sure everyone noticed how nice the garden looked down by the club…  Thanks to Lexa Starbeck and Mary Young for making it so beautiful.

In the unfortunate case you weren’t able to make the party last Saturday, rest assured more are planned. Don’t wait for the next party to buy your neck gaiters and shirts from the Sailing Center.  They still have inventory and will order more! Contact any of the Board Members and they will get you pointed in the right direction!  www.clycss.com

The forecast leading up to last weekend may have shied some of us away from racing…  Along with high heat came some high winds not everyone was prepared to tangle with.  The brave sailors of the fleets line up as follows for the Jack MacNider Memorial Regatta:

Reminder C and MC fleets:  A combined fleet party has been scheduled for July 25th at the Oz residence, 507 S Shore Dr, Clear Lake.  Margaret advises she’ll be providing the rum, beer and wine…. She’ll also be doing prepackaged maid rites and chips.  Bird is bringing pizzas…  Please bring more of your own food and drink if you’re so inclined, also please bring utensils.  Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs as we’ll be outside maintaining that safe social distance.  Any questions please call Margaret at 612-418-8856.

Good luck to our X boat sailors and race officers, making the journey over to Pewaukee next week.  The Senior Fleet kicks off racing on Monday with a scheduled 7 races then the Junior Fleet on Thursday, again with 7 races scheduled.  The ifs, ands, buts, protocols and conditions contained in the NOR’s are endless, but they all have the best intentions, focused on fun as well as the safety of all involved.  I’m not sure if we have anyone participating in the Opti Champs August 3rd and 4th, if we do, best of luck to you also!  I look forward to reports and pictures from the regattas to share with the club (hint, hint)!

Speaking of regattas, not all is lost for the adults…  Especially not the men and women of more advanced wisdom and grey hair…  The 2020 MC Masters Nationals is being held right here in Clear Lake from September 17th – 20th.  I may make lighthearted fun of their age; however, these are some of the best sailors in the nation.  Regatta Co-chairs Mark Tesar and Stu Oltrogge have already started reaching out to individuals to get the ball rolling to host a successful event.  Please volunteer in any capacity you can to help make the CLYC and MC Fleet 36 put on another fantastic regatta.

Stay in the clear air,
