The editor took the week off last week. However, the publisher wants you to know he was ready, willing and able to get last week’s edition out. I imagine many of you are still basking in the afterglow of the 80th CLYC Anniversary Gala. Paula Hanus and her minions of helpers, including Ken Hanus, Bob Krogh, the X Fleet and a whole host of others who I will fail to name, must be commended on an outstanding event…….the crowning touch being the gathering of all of the past CLYC commodores who could attend. I was amazed at the number of past commodores and/or their families who were in attendance. It is always a joy to spend time with those who have helped lead the Yacht Club over the years……..and I hope their presence helped cement the connection between the past and the present of our club.

MC (AND C) FLEET PARTY………..is this weekend, on Saturday, July 25, 6:30 p.m., at Byron and Ann Beasley’s residence on the south shore, 5312 Lakeview Drive. The main dish and an adult beverage made with hops will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share, and your own stronger adult beverage if that is what you prefer. Please RSVP to Ann at 641-512-1970, so she can get an idea of a headcount.

JACK MACNIDER MEMORIAL REGATTA………..was last weekend at Clear Lake. When the results come in, I will publish them…….and the racing sailors can then decide whether they are in the money for the season or whether they have to put the pedal to the metal for the rest of the Second Series and the Labor Day Regatta.

X CHAMPIONSHIPS…….are at Lake Pewaukee this coming weekend. Clear Lake will be well represented, hopefully in both the Junior and the Senior fleets. Good luck to our young sailors!!

MC TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS……..were last weekend at Lake Calhoun in the Twin Cities. After 16 races over a two day period, the Clear Lake team of Todd Tesar, Eric Protzman and Stu Oltrogge took first overall………..followed closely by the CLYC team of Emily Oltrogge, Nathan Kotz and Jeff Nicholase who finished third overall.

INTERLAKES REGATTA………..is fast approaching. The 120th rendition of Interlakes is being hosted by Lake Minnetonka this year. Attached is a Notice of Race with all the information you will need. Unlike past years racing will only be on Saturday and Sunday, August 1 – 2, with put-in on Friday. Also, unlike past years, registration is on an individual basis by each racing sailor. To register you must visit www.yachtscoring.com, find the “2015 Inter-Lake Regatta” event and complete the registration process. I did it, and it’s easy and fun (well, actually, Margaret did it…….but she said the same thing). There is also a location on the front page of the CLYC Web Site (on the right column) that links you directly with the yachtscoring.com site. Please, register as early as you can, so the Minnetonka Yacht Club can get a more accurate idea of who will be there……..so they don’t run out of food, etc.

Later, Oz
