Clear Lake Yacht Club (CLYC), located in Clear Lake, Iowa was founded in 1935 to promote pleasure and competitive sailing for all ages. We are comprised of racing and social members who enjoy Clear Lake and sailing. The CLYC sponsors a sailing school, long a backbone for learning sailing skills and bonding new friendships. Information can be found at www.clycss.com.
The CLYC sponsors several sailing fleets, Optimists, X, MC, M15, C, E and Hobie Cats each season, giving sailors ample opportunities to compete and test their skills. Scheduled races occur every weekend (Saturday at 9:30am and 2:00pm, Sunday at 10am) from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
The CLYC is a member of US Sailing, Inland Lakes Yachting Association, Interlake Yachting Association and Hobie Class Association Division 7.
In addition, the club is a member of the Yachting Club of America (YCA) and is listed in the Register of American Yacht Clubs. Members of CLYC can enjoy reciprocity with other yacht clubs listed in the Register. Reciprocity varies with the different Clubs. Many have courtesy dockage, access to restaurants and lounges. Some don’t have any facilities and a call ahead may prove helpful. To gain access to a reciprocal Club, present your YCA Reciprocal Courtesy Card or current Clear Lake Yacht Club membership card at the Club.
